Short story edition with eight black and white illustrated plates by Starkweather, including a frontispiece, and alternating green and orange floral decorations to the wide margins of every page. Publisher's grey cloth with gilt titles to spine and upper, and floral decoration in white and green to upper. Illustrated endpapers. A crisp, clean copy, with spotting to edges only. Slight toning to spine and some light general wear to cloth. Near fine. A short adventure set in the Northwest Territories of Canada, originally published in a collection of short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1891, and presented here in attractive illustrated form, in one of several variant bindings.
