The herbarium contains 7 individual pages, each made of paper cut to the shape of the shell. A total of 14 pressed seaweed specimens are included—two per page, front and back. Specimens are intact and vary in color and texture, showcasing a range of seaweed types. Pages are bound together with string, and interleaved with protective tissue paper.

These compact shell herbariums were typical of 19th-century seaside souvenirs, often created during leisure trips to coastal areas.
