Presenting an exquisite example English craftsmanship, a 19th-century Regency tea caddy. Made of sumptuously patterned burled walnut, the caddy boasts a delicate light maple banding along its edges.
Its dimensions, measuring 7.85” in width, 4.5” in depth, and a height of 5.65”, make it a substantial yet graceful piece, fitting for display or careful use. Notably, this particular caddy retains its two original lidded interior compartments — a rarity in today's market, as many of its contemporaries have long since lost these features.
Over its lifetime, it has embraced the passage of time, exhibiting a slight warp in the wood, causing it not to close entirely flush. While it no longer possesses its original key and the two side ring handles, these signs of age only serve to augment its history, character, and authenticity.
Such an artifact is not just an acquisition, but an inheritance of history, ready to grace the collections of the discerning and passionate connoisseur.
